Moon : Part 5/? [f/f] The screen door slammed shut behind me, the suffocating humidity of the early spring ameliorated by the cool air conditioning of the small, cramped trailer. I pushed my shirt across my sweaty skin to catch a bead of sweat running down my chest before I flung the backpack carelessly on the floor, heading for the fridge. "Moon feeling better yet?" I asked Moon's mom, Iris, who was scuttling about the kitchen busily. Iris snorted and said, "If that girl was even sick in the first place. Janet, your father called." I felt cold inside suddenly, then shrugged it off with seeming nonchalance. "He calls every day." "Yeah, but Janet, he really misses you. He says he knows your mom's a bitch about the whole thing, but..." "But I can't move back in while I'm still a dyke, right?" I laughed bitterly and pulled out a large red apple, biting into it with a hard, satisfactory crunch. "Well, as a parent, I can understand his position. I can also understand yours, too, honey, but I do feel badly for him." I turned around and looked down at her and shook my head gently. "I love my father, but there's not a chance in hell I'm going back. I love Moon, I've gone through all this bullshit and lost everything for her, and the last thing I'm going to do now is turn and run back." I let the refrigerator door swing shut as I headed towards our bedroom. "'Lo, Janet," Moon murmured sleepily as I leaned over the unkempt bed to kiss her quickly on the lips. She was sprawled across the bed. Her hair hung over the edge in a cascade of black locks, the long tendrils kissing the floor. "How was school today?" "Well, ya know, you missed a couple wild orgies and a bomb threat, but nothing big," I teased her, my foul mood evaporating into the air. She gazed up at me, her eyes glassy with sleep. Laughing, she lifted a hand, gripped my breast firmly, and used it to pull me down towards her for another kiss. I obliged her, letting her soft lips brush against mine before her wet tongue darted out to lick me. I sighed through my nostrils, relaxing deeper into the kiss, finally giving in and lying down alongside her on the bed. She arched her body against mine and nuzzled her nose in my chest, snuggling closer to me. I kissed her again on the top of her head before I sighed and buried my head in her hair, inhaling the sweet scents of her shampoo. "So what do you want to do tonight?" I asked softly, running my fingers gently along her shoulder blades, feeling the soft rise of her back through her cotton T-shirt. "Actually, tomorrow night, let's go see that band down at the Fallen Angel," she replied, almost too quickly. "They're having an all ages show and Jessie's boyfriend is drummer in the band." I shook my head in disgust. "There's a reason why I've never been to that place. I abhor the music there." "Still, Janet, it's better than sitting around at home. I mean we could do naughty stuff..." Her hand slipped down to my inner thigh, stroking me teasingly underneath my loose shorts. I groaned and mock slapped her, laughing. "But Rob's gonna have his friends over tomorrow night and they might hear and get turned on or something..." I interrupted her with a laugh. "Rob's life is just a little fucked up, don't you think? His older sister's got a live-in mistress, his mom's a lesbian." She nodded her head. "It builds character. Anyway, please?" I frowned, shaking my head slowly for a moment before agreeing. "If they hurt my precious eardrums just the tiniest bit, we're leaving, ok?" She beamed with happiness, and lifted her head to kiss me. "Thanks, cutie!" I threw my hands up in mock exasperation and wrapped my arms tighter around her. "Ah, Moon, all you do is play with me." She nodded in agreement. You didn't seem to mind last night, baby." I laughed. "So what about tonight?" Her eyes twinkled as her face grew in a sly grin. "Actually, I've got something planned for tonight. Did you know Mom's going to Muskegon today for a meeting?" "Iris? What's she doing in Muskegon? That's about a hundred miles away." Moon shrugged. "They're having some trouble with the school board there, and they wanted her to go advocate something. She's going to stay the night at a hotel. Also, Rob's friend is having this birthday party sleepover, which means he'll be gone all night too..." My eyes widened with realization. "We'll be alone all night!" "Yup. I'm gonna give you 50 bucks..." I protested loudly. "Moon, you can't afford to give me 50 dollars..." She ignored me. "And I want you to go shopping with Madeline at five" -- "Moon, I don't want to take your..." "Fine! Just go shopping at five, ok? Pretty please?" She pouted, her lower lip starting to tremble just a touch. I tried not to, but I looked into her eyes and her deep brown pools caught me and reeled me in. "All right. Anything for you, honey. What's so important that I have to leave?" She grinned broadly, leaning over to give me a quick kiss. "You'll find out." The phone shrilled, demanding attention from Moon. She rolled over lazily and stood up to answer it. "Well, speak of the devil! Hey Janet, it's Madeline. She says her car broke down so she can't drive it. She wants to know if you can pick her up tonight." I nodded, standing up and bending over to pick up a pair of jeans. I slipped my legs into the pant legs and pulled the jeans up over my thighs, zipped up the pants and buttoned it closed. I yawned and stretched. Moon was still talking to Madeline, so I made motions of eating with my hands and mouthed, "I'm going to go eat." She nodded and waved me off. I walked through the living room to the kitchen. Rob was lying down on the couch, absentmindedly pushing buttons on a remote control. He looked up when I entered the room, and said, "Hey, Janet, are you moving in with us or something?" I looked at him. "You think I'm moving in? I've lived here for a while. Don't you think that qualifies as moving in already?" He shrugged. "I heard you talking that night. I know everyone thinks I'm kind of young to understand, but why did your mom kick you out?" I frowned, and sighed, trying to think of how to word it. "Rob, it's kind of a personal matter. I don't know if I'm moving in or not yet. It depends on weather me and my parents work things out." I walked into the kitchen and rummaged through the pantry. His face fell. "Why doesn't anybody tell me anything?" I laughed at the crestfallen look he wore. "Rob, trust me, you don't really want to know. Do you have any grapes?" "No. I ate 'em all." "You suck. Look at my choices. Ritz crackers, leftover spaghetti and cereal. Hey, Corn Pops has sugar. Next time save the grapes for me." "Not unless you tell me why you got kicked out." "Rob, you're annoying me," I said sternly. He was actually starting to piss me off, and I didn't want to get into a fight with Moon's brother, so I just grabbed a tangerine and left the kitchen, going back to Moon's room. Moon's back was to the door, and she turned her head to look at me. She was still on the phone, talking to Madeline. "Oh, hey, hang on, she's here. Janet, can you promise not to come back until about 10?" I made a fake expression of shock. "Moon, are you trying to get rid of me?" "Yeah. Anyway, Madeline, I'll talk to you later, ok? Yeah, she'll be there in about an hour. Ok... Bye-bye." She hung up the phone and turned to face me. I told her, "Your brother is a little brat." She giggled and said, "I know. Why?" I told her what'd happened. She frowned. "Just don't make any kind of deal out of it, and he probably won't say anything again. I don't really want to have to explain the rudiments of our relationship to him. Anyway, let's go to the living room and watch TV for a while, ok?" I shook my head. "He's watching it." She shrugged and said, "So? I can beat the crap out of him if I want." I laughed, and could feel my mood lifting. We went out to the living room, where he asked us again why I'd been kicked out. Moon handled him beautifully, saying that we'd tell him if he'd let us have the TV. He gave us the remote, and when he demanded his reciprocation, Moon simply shrugged and flipped through the channels. "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO -- OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" "Oh, shut up, Rob, I'm trying to fucking pack!" Iris's voice replied from her bedroom. Rob stomped his feet on the carpet and stormed off to his room. Moon and I laughed hysterically at his tantrum, which only made him madder. "All right girls, I'm blowing this joint." Iris appeared in the living room, dragging a dark blue suitcase behind her. "Be good, and feed my fish for me, ok?" Moon nodded and gave me a secret smile. "Bye." I waved to Iris. Iris yelled, "Hey Rob, aren't you going to come out and give your old mom a kiss?" Rob came running out. "Mom, I need a ride to Jess's house." Iris dropped her suitcase. "What, NOW?" Rob nodded. Iris looked at us, her face pleading. "I'm really in a hurry, honey. Can't Moon or Janet give you a ride?" The look on Rob's face was horrified when I replied, "Yeah, I'm heading out tonight around five anyway." Iris smiled, and looked at Rob with a pleased expression. "Come give your mommy a kiss!" Rob, looking disgusted, turned and left. Iris laughed and picked up her suitcase and left, slamming the door shut behind her.
